Successful completion of this course will give you the educational requirement to apply to be a licensed conveyancer in Victoria with Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV). CAV have additional requirements, including a requirement for applicants to have completed the equivalent of 12 months full time experience within the last five years carrying out conveyancing work under supervision of either a legal practice or a licensed conveyancer. There is also a requirement to be covered by a minimum of $2 million professional indemnity insurance. The details of these requirements are covered in the course and on CAV website.
Lurnn is a registered training organisation (RTO 51792) which means your Advanced Diploma will be a nationally recognised qualification.
Lurnn have designed a learning and assessment approach that is industry driven. This means that your learning and assessments will prepare you to work and perform in the conveyancing industry. We have worked closely with industry experts to ensure our programs are relevant, practical and up to date with contemporary work practices, meaning our students can feel assured that what they learn, as well as the way they learn, is preparing them to succeed in the industry.
The Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing is a fully online course, but be careful, not all online courses are created equal!
The Lurnn course is video based making it very hard to compare to other courses. Think Netflix versus going to the library! Each unit is made up of an engaging studio made video along with an extensive textbook and links to relevant websites and resources.
All assessments are completed online via the Lurnn platform. Our students tell us that online training via our platform is like having their own private teacher. A person speaking directly to them, explaining everything they need to know, posing questions and providing answers.
The platforms allows you to press pause and reflect on the ideas, or replay a section over again if you miss something. Completing the course fully online allows students to work at their own pace which means the study is totally self-directed. You can work fast, slow, or somewhere in between.
The online platform is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – so students work to their timetable, not ours. There are no start or end dates, no minimum numbers required to run a course and no cancelling of courses or units for any reason.

These are covered elsewhere in this course.
Finalise transaction

This includes but is not limited to determining contingency strategies, completing transactions, and implementing post-transaction procedures and using Electronic Lodgement Network Operators (ELNOs), where required.
Trust Accounting
This unit looks at the skills and knowledge required to establish, manage and administer trusts or controlled money accounts in a practice. It encompasses reviewing for compliance with trust account requirements, establishing and managing trust accounts, maintaining trust transaction records, and monitoring and reviewing trust accounts.
Managing Risk
This unit focuses on the skills and knowledge required to identify, manage and mitigate business risks within a conveyancing practice. It emphasises proactive strategies to minimise potential threats and ensure the ongoing compliance and stability of the business. Learners will develop practical techniques for assessing risk, implementing controls, and responding effectively to emerging issues.
Negotiation and Disputes
Negotiation is the process of bargaining to achieve the goals of parties. Sometimes, this process will occur in a discrete negotiation event – a sit down to discuss the goal, the needs of the respective parties and the path to achieve them. Other times, a negotiation can take place over many weeks or months, as parties work together towards goals and their needs. The longer the negotiation, the greater the potential for conflict – as the situation evolves over time.

Conveyancing is a state regulated industry. This means that the rules around conveyancing vary depending on which state you are working in. This course is written to Victorian legislation, meaning we reference Victorian rules and requirements throughout the course. We are in the process of creating video content for each of the jurisdictions in Australia.

There is nothing stopping you doing either of our conveyancing courses, as long as you understand that the law is different in each state. This means that when you learn about Victorian law, it will not be relevant to how things are done in NSW.
