Successful completion of this course will give you the educational requirement to apply to be a licensed conveyancer in Victoria with Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV). CAV have additional requirements, including a requirement for applicants to have completed the equivalent of 12 months full time experience within the last five years carrying out conveyancing work under supervision of either a legal practice or a licensed conveyancer. There is also a requirement to be covered by a minimum of $2 million professional indemnity insurance. The details of these requirements are covered in the course and on the CAV website.

A Flexible Online Advanced Diploma

The Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing is a fully online course, but be careful, not all online courses are created equal!
The Lurnn course is video based making it very hard to compare to other courses. Think Netflix versus going to the library! Each unit is made up of an engaging studio made video along with an extensive textbook and links to relevant websites and resources.
All assessments are completed online via the Lurnn platform. Our students tell us that online training via our platform is like having their own private teacher. A person speaking directly to them, explaining everything they need to know, posing questions and providing answers.
The platforms allows you to press pause and reflect on the ideas, or replay a section over again if you miss something. Completing the course fully online allows students to work at their own pace which means the study is totally self-directed. You can work fast, slow, or somewhere in between.
The online platform is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – so students work to their timetable, not ours. There are no start or end dates, no minimum numbers required to run a course and no cancelling of courses or units for any reason.

Corporation Law

The framework of corporation law underpins how businesses are structured and governed – but it is up to an individual to interpret and apply this framework correctly. It is one thing to know that different legal structures exist and how to fill in a form. It is something else entirely to evaluate multiple sources of information, prepare accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and codes of practice across jurisdictions.

What are licensing requirements for conveyancers in Victoria?

Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) have additional requirements, including a requirement for applicants to have completed the equivalent of 12 months full time experience within the last five years carrying out conveyancing work under supervision of either a legal practice or a licensed conveyancer. There is also a requirement to be covered by a minimum of $2 million professional indemnity insurance. The details of these requirements are covered in the course and on CAV website.

Is this a Nationally Recognised qualification? Why is there a separate Victorian course and a WA course? Is this course relevant in all states of Australia?

Conveyancing is a state regulated industry. This means that the rules around conveyancing vary depending on which state you are working in. This course is written to Victorian legislation, meaning we reference Victorian rules and requirements throughout the course. We are in the process of creating video content for each of the jurisdictions in Australia.
Let us know if you want us to keep you posted.

I live in NSW; can I do your course?

There is nothing stopping you doing either of our conveyancing courses, as long as you understand that the law is different in each state. This means that when you learn about Victorian law, it will not be relevant to how things are done in NSW.
Lurnn is a registered training organisation (RTO 51792) which means your Advanced Diploma will be a nationally recognised qualification, but it is best if you choose a course that is based on the law where you will be operating.

How long do people usually take to finish the course?

On average somewhere around 12 months – that is approximately one unit per month.

What is a flexible online course?

The Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing is a fully online course, but be careful, not all online courses are created equal!
The Lurnn course is video based making it very hard to compare to other courses. Think Netflix versus going to the library! Each unit is made up of an engaging studio made video along with an extensive textbook and links to relevant websites and resources.

How do the assessments work?

All assessments are completed online via the Lurnn platform. There are four different types of assessment, starting with comprehension questions relating the videos, then knowledge questions, case studies and a research based assignment.

How will I be supported during the course?

Our students tell us that online training via our platform is like having their own private teacher. A person speaking directly to them, explaining everything they need to know, posing questions and providing answers. We also employ a full time student relationship manager who is available during business hours by phone, email or video call to talk you through your queries and help you solve any problems.

When does each course start and finish?

The online platform is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – so students work to their timetable, not ours. There are no start or end dates, no minimum numbers required to run a course and no cancelling of courses or units for any reason.

Why 13 units and not 15?

As for the delivery of the units, the entire course is 100% online, the difference in unit numbers actually comes from the way we package the course for your ease of learning. There is quite a lot of overlap in subjects like BSBLEG522 Apply legal principles in contract law matters and BSBLEG528 Apply legal principles in property law matters so rather than going through a lot of the same material twice we package the units together into one so that you just have our unit "Intro to Law". There's also some other overlaps but the end result is 15 units of competency packaged into 13 online units.

Terms and Conditions
